Hi, I’m Elizabeth Houghton, and it’s my job as your coach to help you Go Your Own Way - whatever way that is.

It’s not easy to forge your own path, to trailblaze, to step onto “the road less travelled by.” Especially when you come from a more traditional background that isn’t supportive of 99.9% of career paths (ie. if you’re not a doctor or a lawyer, what are you even doing?!) Seriously, what are you doing? Our first step is to figure that out.

Our first step together is Clarity

Maybe you know exactly what you want to do, but need help to form a realistic, financially responsible strategy to get there. Plus support to navigate your relationship with friends, family and partners who may not wholeheartedly approve.

Or, maybe you’ve never had the luxury of fully exploring your potential, talents, interests and passions, and you need help to find clarity around what you want your career and your life to be.

Or - it might be that you just feel like something isn’t quite right, you’re not loving your job the way you thought you would, you’re not as happy as you expected to be, and you need some help articulating what’s missing.

Sometimes, it’s not a change in career that you need - but a change in perception.

Let me tell you a story about a client I worked with recently.

When we began our work together, she came in with a strong set of values: You have to have an advanced degree and you can’t be successful without it. That story had been handed down to her by her family and reinforced by her coworkers. The problem was…

She didn’t have an advanced degree.

What she had was years of valuable work experience and a long list of career achievements.

But, she didn’t feel as worthy or as smart as her peers who had degrees, and she felt unsure of herself speaking up in meetings or voicing her opinions and suggestions.

Her story of what “success” meant was holding her back.

We spent six months working together, and by the end she knew with total confidence that she didn’t need a Masters degree to do her job well and that she’d earned her role through hard work and achievements. She could go into a room with co-workers and management, all of whom had advanced degrees, and hold her own with no fear. 

Step 2 is Mindset

Once we’re clear on what you want, we’ll move into working through what’s stopping you from getting it right now. Usually, these blocks include limiting beliefs and family/cultural/societal ‘stories’ that make bold moves extra scary, and can contribute to self-defeating behaviour patterns. 

Our goal is for you to be able to move forward with confidence and optimism (instead of stomach-churning fear, and a debilitating case of ‘what will other people think?!’)

Step 3 is Strategy

You know what you want to do, but how are you going to get there - and how are you going to explain it to people?! That’s what strategy is all about: Creating a well-thought-out, step-by-step plan to move you toward your goals in ways that don’t feel like a terrifying leap into the unknown — but rather a process to becoming the person you’re meant to be.

And, your strategy may also need to include a plan for how to navigate push-back and communicate your decisions with firm diplomacy. I will be your cheerleader and ally. If you’re worried about how to tell your parents or partner that you’re quitting your “amazing job” - I’m here to help you find the right words and the confidence to say them.

Most career coaches stop here - with strategy. But our work together doesn’t have to stop here, and you may find that you need a little more support. If that’s the case, then our coaching can also include Step 4...

Step 4 is You Loving Your Life (continuation coaching)

The whole purpose of our coaching is to get you ready to make the changes that will align your life with your passions and purpose. Taking the final step is up to you, but you will be well prepared and fully supported.

But… strange things can begin to happen once you step firmly onto your own path and start to enjoy going your own way. 

You’re venturing far outside of your comfort zone, breaking down everything that’s stopped you in the past - and that can get uncomfortable. 

You may experience symptoms you’ve never had and problems you’ve never faced, because you’ve never pushed yourself this far.

Symptoms like: 

  • Procrastination
  • Exhaustion
  • Anxiety
  • Brain fog
  • FOMO
  • Panic

There may even be a grief cycle of disbelief, resistance, anger, upset, loss, confusion - and glimmers of hope that get brighter as you come out the other side. You may feel dips in motivation (but if you push through, you’ll come out FLYING).

How 1:1 Coaching works - the details: 

First, schedule a free 30-minute tea n’ biscuit date to make sure we’re a good fit.

Second, we’ll set a start date and time that works with your schedule. My clients are international and different time zones aren’t usually an issue.

You have the choice of paying the full price for 8 sessions ($3,500 AUD) in advance, or in 3 instalments of $1,170 AUD each. 

Third, as we near the end of our 8 sessions, you may wish to continue coaching with me or you may have everything you need to fly solo.

Why I’m qualified:

I have over a decade of experience supporting CEOs, executives, front line leaders and emerging leaders to overcome limiting beliefs and behaviour patterns to achieve greater success on their own terms. As your coach, I’ll help you understand how your beliefs and environment can trigger behaviours that don’t serve you.



How much time do I need to set aside to do this coaching?

We meet twice a month (every other week) via zoom for 4 months (8 sessions in 4 months), with email support and Whatsapp check-ins for accountability in between sessions. There will also be homework between sessions, mostly reflecting and digging deeper into our in-session work. As we progress through the sessions, it will turn into planning your goals and think about how to realistically pursue them. A good estimate is to allow for one hour of self work per week (as with everything the more you put in the more you will get out). 

What if I want to continue coaching with you after our initial 8 sessions? How much would that be? How often would we meet?

We can do month-to-month continuation coaching (with sessions every other week), or you can sign up for a 4 month package.

Do I need to know what I want to do - or transition into doing - before we work together?

You don’t need to have anything figured out for us to work together. All you need to know is that something in your life is not working for you. Then together we can uncover what you’re passionate about, what you really want, and what limiting beliefs we need to dismantle for you to get there.
